If you haven't heard about Osteostrong and the many health benefits the “ bio-hack “ incurs, you are missing out on a cutting-edge health and wellness franchise with 170 centers in the USA and more located in 13 countries around the world. I've been going to the Fairhope Osteostrong for almost a year with 360 others who are young and old, those combating osteoporosis, (me), and high-performance athletes (not me!).

According to Josh Fandrich, owner of the Fairhope center, biohacking is the fastest-growing industry around the world.  It’s outpacing gym memberships because it promotes overall health and wellness with technology that focuses on cellular health.  It triggers the body’s natural adaptations to stimulate the body to function better.  The premise is skeletal strength conditioning. If our skeletal system is not in order, our bones, muscles, organ systems, and energy levels can’t be.

Let me walk you through my routine on my once-a-week visit. The first thing to encounter is the Vibration Plate. I stand on a vibrating platform for 5 minutes to stimulate circulation, trigger stabilization firing for balance, help flush the lymphatic system, and prepare for osteogenic loading.

What is osteogenic loading and why is it important? I have learned from Josh that after the age of 30, we lose between 1-3% of that bone mass annually unless we can trigger the central nervous system to stimulate bones to grow faster. Bone is constantly replacing itself. We have a completely new skeletal system every 7 to 10 years. It’s living tissue that is constantly changing but as we age, it’s not replacing its mass as fast as when we were younger because we are unable to safely achieve a high enough load on the tissue to trigger the adaptation because of our conditioning levels.

One key component that was discovered in 2015 was if we don’t get to at least a minimum of 4.2 multiples of our body weight in weight-bearing or impact forces, nothing happens to trigger osteogenesis which is what we need to get the bone growing faster. The next 4 machines on the program: upper body, lower body, postural, and core, address osteogenic loading.

A staff member/coach makes sure I am properly positioned and motivates me to press against the machines with as much strength as I can muster in a static position. You have monitors that measure and chart in “real-time” how much load is being applied to the bones.

I always want to break my record, so it becomes competitive, but I consistently reach my growth trigger point. For example: on the lower body machine, I have pressed 14 times my body weight, at my best, and all you need is 4.2 multiples. I have increased my strength by 120 % since January. Hooray!

Next, I choose some of the “Modalities” such as BioCharger, Red-light therapy, PEMF mats, Aqua massage tables, and Normatec recovery systems, which all help to decrease inflammation and pain, heal from injuries, and promote cellular health.

The BioCharger, which uses a platform invented by Tesla and Rife, involves voltage, electromagnets, wavelengths of light with frequency, and harmonic sounds. This is a 10-minute treatment that is scientifically proven to counteract the artificial things in our environment that drain and unbalance our energy sources. My husband is a big fan of this light therapy and has had a noticeable improvement in his balance. I love the massage table because it feels wonderful but also rejuvenates and increases blood flow and sends oxygen to my cells.

The PEMF mats (pulse electronic magnetic frequency) are for relaxation, pain management, and blood flow. Red-light therapy created by NASA mimics the 2 waves of light in natural sunlight which the body needs to perform at an optimal level. Red Light helps with collagen production and skin health while Near-infrared light penetrates tissues increasing ATP production for energy and mitochondria support. Normatec Recovery System is a sort of pulse-restricted blood flow massage that flushes lactic acid from muscles.

Josh and his manager, Jeana Owens are very well-versed in the benefits of Ostostrong and taught me so much during our interview. Josh opened one of the first centers in Huntsville in 2012 and when the global franchise was launched in 2014, he left his former job in sales, moved to Fairhope, and opened this franchise in 2016.

The Mobile location opened in 2020 and he has plans to expand to the Gulf Shores area in the next few years. Josh talks about his life of being an athlete with a dream of being in sports medicine. After 9 years of active-duty service with the Air Force with a special duty assignment in Presidential security (President Bill Clinton) at Andrews Airforce Base, he was in farming sales for 17 years.

He revisited his dream to transition into the Health and Wellness industry and planned to open a gym when he met Doctor John Jaquish, the inventor of the Spectrum technology that emphasized that it was bone, not muscle that increases the quality of life and longevity. You can schedule a free consultation to learn more about the benefits of Osteostrong by visiting their website, osteostrong. me, or calling 251 210 6955. My friends tell me that I look healthy and fit, and I feel more energetic and stronger. Thank you Osteostrong!
