On a tip from a friend, I recently stopped by a little restaurant at 3001 East Cervantes Street in Pensacola. I was hungry and my friend told me this was as close to an authentic New York deli Reuben Sandwich as could get. The name gave it away:  New Yorker Deli and Pizzeria is the place.

Tucked away on a corner, the parking lot told me I was at the right place. I opted to sit outside on the deck and my server was quick, patient, and accommodating. The menu was surprisingly robust, with hot and cold sandwiches, subs, pasta, pizza, calzones, and strombolis from which to choose. I already knew I was there for the Reuben, but there were several special soups on the daily special board. And I love soup!

After a delicious cup of Crawfish Jambalaya soup, I found the Reuben perfectly piled high with  Pastrami (my choice) and served with chips. Maybe not the fanciest of lunch options but it hit the spot. I know this, I’ll be back soon!
