Saturday, May 14, marked the 15th anniversary of Pensacola’s Palafox Market, and Scenic 98 Coastal decided to check it out. We are glad we did! Palafox Market opens at 9:00 and runs to 2:00 every Saturday.

From its humble beginnings, Palafox Market is now a thriving smorgasbord of delightful local vendors. Starting at the intersection of Market Street and Palafox Street, the market extends four blocks north and features fresh produce stands, baked goods, flowers,  plants, and delicious specialty meats and fresh seafood. Several booths offered foods prepared by cottage chefs, bakers, and juicers. At each intersection, a street musician entertained the crowds. As we ventured up the boulevard, the market included more arts and crafts with many unique offerings, including hand-made jewelry, soaps, dog beds, honey, and just about everything you can imagine, including belly dancers! Click here for a complete list of vendors and how to reach them.

There were throngs of people meandering up and down the shaded and tree-lined concourse with vendors on both sides. We arrived at noon and thoroughly enjoyed an hour or so of perusing. We had hoped to get to It’s Tamale Time before he sold out and were lucky to score three of his seven varieties of tamales. They were delicious! We also purchased a tasty tomato pie at Broken Arm Moma and a beautiful lemon pie from Drive by Pies. It was a lot of fun, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

We plan to go back soon!
