The South Alabama Land Trust (SALT) announces the return of its annual Gulf Coast Nature Expo, a free community event celebrating conservation, environmental education, and family fun. This year’s Expo will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, from 9-2 p.m. at the picturesque Weeks Bay Plantation in Fairhope.
This family-friendly event features live raptor shows, marine life touch tanks, interactive nature exhibits, and creative arts activities—all hosted by local nonprofit and government organizations working to protect and preserve our region’s natural resources. These groups will also have booths where guests can learn more about their missions and how to get involved. It’s a fun and meaningful way to connect with nature and support the local organizations making a difference across coastal Alabama.

“We’re honored to host this year’s Nature Expo at Weeks Bay Plantation,” said Heather Stringfellow, co-owner of the property with her husband, Tynes. “We believe in SALT’s mission to connect people to nature and protect the beautiful landscapes that make this region so special. Opening our land to the community for a day of learning, fun, and exploration is something we’re proud to be a part of.”
Weeks Bay Plantation, formerly a private blueberry farm and now open to the public, offers a spacious, scenic setting nestled among farmland and forest—an ideal backdrop for outdoor exploration and environmental education. Previously hosted at the Five Rivers Delta Resource Center, the Expo’s new home provides a fresh and inspiring environment to experience the wonders of nature.
In addition to the activities, local food trucks will be on site to keep everyone fueled. Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to reserve their spot to help SALT plan for the best experience possible at https://southalabamalandtrust.org/bird-expo/.
Now celebrating its 35th anniversary, the South Alabama Land Trust continues its mission to protect land in its natural state before it’s lost. SALT invites all community members to join in this mission by becoming Land Guardians—supporters who help protect and preserve Alabama’s coastlines for generations to come.
