One of my favorite activities in the Fall in Fairhope is the Live at Five Concert Series It is so much fun to pack your cooler and your lawn chairs, gather your friends, and set up the perfect spot to experience an outdoor concert.

The venue is the Halstead Amphitheater on the Fairhope Campus of Coastal Alabama Community College with 65,000 square feet of grassy, open-air space tucked amid soaring pine trees and live oaks. You may bring your picnic( BYOB) or choose to buy dinner or snacks from the available Food Trucks.

People dance and sing, children and dogs run and play, and everyone enjoys being outside and listening to a wide range of musical genres: rock, jazz, country, soul, and funk.  With a touch of fall in the air, the enjoyment of music, nature, and community is ‘Must do” on a Friday night in Fairhope. You can’t help but be happy in this environment!

Starting in 2017, the concert series was underwritten by  Coastal Alabama Community College. Produced by John Cochran, it remains a family-friendly event that is a perfect way to kick off your weekend fun. Now a 501c3 non-profit organization, the Friends of the Halstead, manage the event with all proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships going to The Jacob Hall Memorial Music Foundation

The grant identifies musicians or aspiring musicians who have a specific musical need.  Examples of potentially qualifying needs include money for instruments, equipment, music lessons, attending music camps or recitals, tuition for music majors, music books, etc. Recipients of the grant will be announced on August 26th at the first concert.

Many community businesses serve as sponsors for the event. Truland Homes, Portside Advertising, Anne Dorman, Mobile Bay Realty, and Fairhope Furniture Consignment, to name a few have been eager to participate in such a consummate Fairhope event.

Gates open at 4 pm. The opening band starts at 5 pm and the Headliner at 6:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or on eventbrite.com.
