October has arrived, and with it comes that first hint of cool air along the Gulf Coast. Festival season is in full swing across the Scenic 98 Coastal area, and this month’s lineup has a little something for everyone: craft beer on Dauphin Street, world-class guitar at the Saenger, shrimp on the sand in Gulf Shores, fine art under the oaks in Olde Towne Daphne, and a garden full of pumpkins and scarecrows at Bellingrath.

Dauphin Street Beer Festival: October 3

Dauphin Street Beer Festival, LoDa District, Downtown Mobile, AL

The Dauphin Street Beer Festival is celebrating 28 years of tasting ALL the beers in downtown Mobile! From 6 to 9 PM, put on your walking shoes and stroll the LoDa entertainment district, where nine participating venues will be pouring 36 different beers, from IPAs and microbrews to stouts and ciders. 36 beers, 9 venues, one epic evening!

Roman Street with Andy Vargas: October 4

Roman Street with Andy Vargas, Saenger Theatre, Pensacola, FL

Brothers Noah and Josh Thompson put their guitars together to form Roman Street, a Billboard and iTunes charting band many have dubbed “the next generation” of Jazz Fusion. Named for an old Roman street in the Alps where they studied guitar, the internationally trained group blends Classical, Gypsy and Contemporary Jazz, Latin, and Nuevo Flamenco into a beautifully organic acoustic sound. They’ll be joined by vocalist Andy Vargas, known for his years singing with Santana. Showtime is 7:30 PM, doors open at 6:30.

53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival: October 8 - 11

Annual National Shrimp Festival, 101 Gulf Shores Parkway, Gulf Shores, AL

For over 50 years this volunteer-driven event has been a tradition on the beautiful beaches of Coastal Alabama. Four days of music from local and national acts, food, shopping, fine art, craft workshops and so much more make up an action-packed weekend with nearly 250,000 of your closest friends. The festival also hosts a sand sculpture contest, Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant and Shrimp Festival 5k/10k run. The Annual National Shrimp Festival is a family affair with tons of excitement and supervised arts, crafts, games, and other activities for the little ones.

38th Annual Jubilee Festival of Arts: October 17 - 18

Jubilee Festival of Arts, W.O. Lott Park, Daphne, AL

Art, music & local cuisine meet southern charm at this annual festival set along the oak-lined streets of Olde Towne Daphne. The Jubilee Festival of Art features more than 140 local and regional artists, delicious food, local musicians, FREE Kids Art, High School Art Exhibit, and a Tailgater Area streaming football games all weekend long. The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce and City of Daphne host the Jubilee Festival of Arts each year supporting tourism, the arts and spotlighting the beauty of Olde Towne Daphne.
